FIRST WE FEAST AND 88RISING JOIN FORCES FOR NEW FOOD SERIES ‘FEAST MANSION’

Joji and Rich Brian Cook Gonzo Feasts for Their Labelmates Ahead of the ‘88 Degrees & Rising Tour’

(NEW YORK, September 19, 2018) – First We Feast fan favorites and hip-hop/R&B stars Joji and Rich Brian celebrate the release of 88rising’s debut album with “Feast Mansion,” a new First We Feast series that provides fans unparalleled access to the moments—and meals—leading up to the group’s 88 Degrees & Rising Tour. The series premieres Wednesday, September 26, at 11 a.m. ET on First We Feast’s YouTube channel.

“Feast Mansion” offers a fresh, humor-fueled spin on the stand-and-stir cooking show format, following Brian and Joji’s haphazard quest to cook for the 88rising crew at their party house in the Los Angeles hills as they embark on the 88 Degrees & Rising Tour. Drawing on Brian’s Indonesian background and Joji’s Japanese roots, the duo attempts to create Asian-inspired feasts with the help of some special-guest chefs. The six-episode series reimagines the traditional backstage docuseries and serves as an all-access pass to the ultimate end-of-summer food party, highlighting recipes ranging from homemade sushi, to yakitori skewers using exotic meats like rattlesnake and Rocky Mountain oysters.

“We’ve built 88rising to be a force that continuously connects East and West in innovative ways that are still authentic to who we are, which naturally draws people in to us,” says 88rising CEO Sean Miyashiro, who manages both Rich Brian and Joji. “That’s why a show like this is so great - all we enjoy in life is making music and eating good food, all fucking day long, and we're bringing something reimagined and exciting to the table. 88rising is double happiness.”

“Exploring the intersection of hip-hop and food has always been core to our brand,” says First We Feast GM Chris Schonberger. “We’re inspired by 88rising’s mission to challenge the status quo in the music industry, and we can’t think of a funnier, more Internet-savvy duo than Joji and Brian to help us shake up the cooking show format.”

The following dishes and culinary guests are featured throughout the six-episode run:

  • Joji and Brian face off in an instant-noodle battle
  • Joji and Brian taste-test global remixes of takoyaki, the popular Japanese street food
  • Celebrity chef Ludo Lefebvre teaches the guys how to make the perfect omelet to aid them in their quest to make the Japanese speciality omurice
  • Brian and Joji get a crash-course in DIY sushi making from Yoya Takahashi of L.A. sushi bar Hamasaku
  • Johnny Zone of Los Angeles favorite Howlin’ Ray’s comes to the house to cook spicy Indonesian fried chicken with Brian and Joji
  • In the season finale, Joji and Brian throw an 88rising friends-and-family cookout with a twist—instead of burgers and dogs, the guys cook up yakitori-style skewers featuring exotic meats like snake, bulls testicle, and camel with the help of Luther Chen of Shao Kao BBQ

To kick off the 88 Degrees & Rising Tour, First We Feast has partnered with 88rising to curate a series-inspired food zone for the Head in the Clouds Music & Arts Festival this Saturday, September 22 at the Los Angeles State Historic Park. Specially selected vendors and exclusive merch will offer attendees the opportunity to interact with the show in real life. Fans can grab bites from Howlin’ Ray’s, Seoul Sausage, and 626 Night Market, the original and largest Asian-inspired night market in the U.S.

“Feast Mansion” is the latest of First We Feast’s growing slate of food, drink and lifestyle franchises, and its partnership with 88rising marks the brand’s continued evolution into global programming. In the coming weeks, viewers will experience even more content celebrating diverse cultures and stories, told with the First We Feast voice that fans have grown to love.
